Business Coach Amsterdam

Starting your own thing or hiring a team: Do it properly

You've been thinking about it for years. The version of work that's actually yours. That's where working with the right business coach in Amsterdam makes the difference.

Let's build it right: with the strategy, the spine, and the soul to make it real.

Business Coach Amsterdam

You know you’re meant for more than this.

You’ve built a solid career. People respect what you do. And every Sunday around 7pm there’s that quiet hum in your chest that says: this isn’t it.

Maybe it’s been there for a year. Maybe ten. Maybe you’ve already taken the first step. The side project picking up. The resignation half-written. The two clients on the side that started accidentally and won’t stop growing.

Or you’ve been running your own business solo for a while and you’ve hit the wall everyone hits around the 18-month mark. Where you can’t outwork your way out of it anymore, and you finally get that this isn’t a strategy problem. It’s an everything problem.

Whatever your version of “more” looks like, you’re done waiting for the right moment. You’re ready to do this properly. That’s exactly where a business coach in Amsterdam earns their place.

You feel like

  • You’ve outgrown your job and you can’t quite name what you actually want next

  • Your business is making money and it still feels like you’re holding it together with tape

  • You’ve been “thinking about going independent” for two years and somehow nothing has actually changed

  • You’re charging less than you’re worth. You know it. They know it.

  • You’re working alone, missing someone to think things through with who isn’t an employee or a friend who’ll just agree with you

And you want to

  • Build something of your own, properly. Not a side hustle that limps along. A real business with a real plan

  • Charge what you’re worth and stop apologising for being good at things

  • Get out of your head and into action, with someone in your corner who’ll keep you honest

  • Pick a direction and actually commit to it for longer than three weeks

  • Bring in your first hire (or your first ten) without losing the thing that made the work good in the first place

And let’s be honest: you want this to change. Not in a year. Now.

Because building your own thing takes more than a plan and a leap of faith.

We start by getting honest about where you are right now. What you actually want. What’s been quietly in the way for the last few years. No generic frameworks borrowed from someone else’s business. No “find your why” workshops. A clear-eyed look at your specific situation, your real goals, and the version of independent work that fits the life you actually want to live. Most clients tell me this phase alone shifts something they’ve been stuck on for a long time.

Now we build the actual plan. Business model. Positioning. Pricing that doesn’t make you wince. Your first clients or your first hires. The 90-day priorities that move things forward instead of just keeping you busy. Practical and grounded. Designed around your actual life, not a textbook business plan template you’ll never look at again. The version that makes sense for you specifically, with someone who’s built and sold companies sitting next to you while you build it.

You move. I keep you honest. We track what’s working, work through what comes up in real time, and make sure you don’t slip back into the patterns that kept you stuck for the last two years. (You know which ones.) Sessions are 60 minutes, online or in person in Amsterdam. Most clients work with me for 3 to 6 months. Some longer. None on a 12-month contract you can’t get out of.

One of my previous employers was generous enough to offer me coaching sessions with Miguel. And that was the best career advice I ever get in my life. Every session was just an eye-opening experience on how to overcome difficulties and grow. After these sessions I feel that I became a better version of myself. I highly recommend Miguel for his professionalism, personal attitude and experience..

A business coach in Amsterdam who’s actually built things himself.

Here’s what most coaches can’t give you. Fewer of them have built and sold companies, led teams at scale, and made the exact transition you’re staring at right now. From the inside, with the same fear, the same overthinking, the same Sunday-night dread.

I’m Miguel Baumann, a business coach Amsterdam founders, freelancers, and solopreneurs work with when they’re ready to go independent properly. PCC and CPCC certified, the two highest professional coaching credentials in the world. 7+ years coaching. 200+ clients. Most of them solopreneurs, freelancers, founders, and tech leaders across Amsterdam and the wider European tech world.

Before coaching, I built and sold startups. Then I led digital teams at Philips. Which means when you tell me about pricing pressure, or a co-founder situation getting weird, or your first hire not working out the way you imagined, I’m not pulling from a textbook. I’ve sat in your seat. And I’ve made the bad version of every decision you’re about to make.

Strategy and mindset: why a good business coach Amsterdam offers both

Business coaches in Amsterdam tend to offer one of two things. Either the strategy side. Business planning, positioning, pricing, stakeholder management. Or the mindset and confidence side. Co-active coaching, somatic work, the neuroscience-based stuff that clears the internal blocks that stop smart people from backing themselves and moving forward.

I work with both. Because the strategy only works if you actually do it. And you only do it if you stop talking yourself out of being the person who can.

That combination is what gets results. The plan that’s right for you, plus the inner work to actually run it. That’s the work.

Business coach Amsterdam framework: lead yourself, lead your team, lead for change
  • Clarity on what you’re actually building, and why it has to be you (not someone else with the same idea, executing it now)

  • The confidence to charge what you’re worth, raise prices without flinching, and stop apologising for being good at things

  • A real plan with accountability built in, so you keep moving when motivation runs out (and it will, around week six)

  • Independence that feels like independence in practice, not just a slightly more flexible version of being stuck

  • Positioning and pricing that brings the right clients to you instead of you chasing the wrong ones

  • The skill to bring in your first hire, or your first ten, without burning yourself out or losing what made the work good

  • Confidence in front of stakeholders, investors, and your own team that doesn’t need a script or a glass of wine first

Frequently asked questions about business coaching in Amsterdam

What does a business coach actually do?

A business coach helps you get clear on what you actually want, build the plan to get there, and stay honest with yourself while you do the work. The difference from a consultant is that a consultant hands you the answers. A coach helps you find and own them yourself, drawing on real business experience when you need it. With me, you get both. You’re not paying for a deck at the end. You’re paying to become the person who can run this without me by month seven.

Is business coaching in Amsterdam available online?

Yes. I’m based in Amsterdam and work with clients in person across the city, and most of my coaching happens via Zoom. I work with solopreneurs, freelancers, and entrepreneurs across the Netherlands and worldwide. The work is the same either way. The only thing you lose online is the walk to the cafe afterwards.

What’s the difference between business coaching and life coaching?

Business coaching is specifically about your professional goals. Building a business, going independent, growing a team, making a career move. It’s more structured and outcome-driven than life coaching. My approach also includes the mindset and confidence work that life coaching covers, because in practice, you can’t actually separate the two. The reason your business isn’t moving is rarely a strategy problem. Usually, it’s the thing under the strategy.

How long does a business coaching programme take?

Most clients work with me for 3 to 6 months. Some continue beyond that. We always start with a free 1:1 session so we both understand the situation before either of us commits to anything. There’s no 12-month lock-in. If we both feel it’s working, we keep going. If not, we stop. No drama.

Do you work with people who haven’t started a business yet?

Yes. Some of the most useful coaching actually happens before you launch. Getting clear on your direction and your positioning beforehand saves you years of false starts and a lot of money. The mindset work tends to come up either way. The version of you who launches a business in 6 months from a place of clarity is a very different person from the one who launches in 12 from desperation.

What are your coaching credentials?

I hold a PCC (Professional Certified Coach) from the International Coaching Federation, and a CPCC (Certified Professional Co-Active Coach) from the Co-Active Training Institute. These are the two most recognised professional coaching certifications in the world. Plus two master’s degrees and 7+ years of coaching practice with founders, solopreneurs, and tech leaders. Before coaching, I built and sold startups and led digital teams at Philips. The credentials matter. The hours in the chair matter more.

What’s the difference between a business coach and a business consultant?

A consultant analyses your situation and tells you what to do. A business coach helps you figure it out for yourself, then keeps you accountable for actually doing it. Coaches build your capacity. Consultants give you a deliverable. I work primarily as a coach, but I’ve built and sold companies and led teams, so when you genuinely need a strategic perspective, I can give it. The goal isn’t to make you dependent on me. The goal is for you not to need me.

How much does business coaching in Amsterdam cost?

Pricing depends on programme length and what you actually need. Most programmes run 3 to 6 months. We figure out what makes sense in the free 1:1 session, and you’ll see exact pricing on the booking link from there. No hidden fees. No upsells in the room. No “optional add-ons” that aren’t really optional.

Do you coach in Dutch or German?

I coach in English, German, and Dutch. German is my native language. If language is a factor for you, just let me know in the free 1:1 session. The deeper work tends to land harder in your mother tongue. I’ll work in whichever language gets you there fastest.
